New Project? by ilikeshinyobjects New Project? by ilikeshinyobjects
I've been chomping at the bit to give my Brother sewing machine a workout and try my hand at sewing. This is what I want to make. I'm so fixated on the 11th Century of the Middle Ages because *CyndiLovesPiccolo went to Medieval Times for her birthday and was raving about how AWESOME it was. If I ever get the chance to go there, I'm SOOO wearing a bliaut dress... But the closest one to me is in California. Ain't happening anytime soon... T_T

Everything at Medieval Times is done in authentic 11th Century fashion (even eating your food, forks don't exist inside their walls), so I thought it would be cool if I went dressed up in 11th Century costume to compete with the show. MWAHAHAHA :icondignitylaughplz:

No, I'm not crazy, shut up. SHUT UP.

(Yes, my handwriting is deplorable.)

References and pattern located on Google, like usual.

Very nice. How did you figure out the pattern?

If you run a search for 11th century bliaut or bliaut pattern you'll get all kinds of sewing pattern results.

[link] - this is a good one

[link] - here's a measurement .pdf file but it's kind of confusing. The easiest way to go about making one I think would be to buy an actual pattern kit. But always buy more fabric than you think you'll need, in case you fudge up some measurements.
